About Crest Yoga
Welcome to Crest Yoga, Yoga Classes, workshops, courses, and one-to-one therapeutic sessions located in Sidcup, Bexley, Hextable (Swanley), South Daranth (Dartford), and beyond.
My name is Clair Yates and I'm a full-time, experienced yoga teacher, teaching accessible yoga classes for all ages and abilities, therapeutic yoga in small groups and one-to-one tailored to the individual's needs.
For those who want to deepen their yoga practice, I teach workshops, and courses including the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course, plus a yoga retreat someone sunny each year - this year Turkey in May and Italy in July.
Though I’d dabbled in yoga for many years, it wasn’t until 2004, when suffering from a bad back, that I began going to regular yoga classes. At the time I worked in investment banking and the classes were a welcome relief from desk-based work, helping to free my body and mind from the restrictions of office life.
My back soon improved but that’s not why I became hooked. Though I couldn’t put my finger on it, I began to feel happier and more comfortable living in my own body and I wanted to know more. My curiosity led me to the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course, which I completed in 2008.
The course led me to see my whole life differently and at the end of 2008, though everyone thought I was crazy, I volunteered for redundancy. My intention was to broaden my horizons, travel, and spend more time practicing and studying yoga. Encouraged by my teachers I enrolled on the triyoga Teacher Training course in 2009.
Yoga is still my favourite subject and on top of the British Wheel of Yoga’s mandatory Continuing Professional Development, I continue to train to enrich my teaching and practice of yoga.
I strive to make my classes accessible to all, I've trained in yoga for people with disabilities, I’m an Accessible Yoga Ambassador and I continue to strive to make my classes and teaching an inclusive and welcoming space for everybody.
I teach weekly accessible group yoga classes in Sidcup in the London Borough of Bexley and Hextable in Kent – and therapeutically one-to-one, small group, and family yoga sessions in Sidcup, Bexley, Chislehurst as well as yoga and meditation workshops and courses which allow students to deepen their practice.
For private sessions here at my home, I have a dedicated yoga room, with lots of space and all the yoga equipment one could ever need. For larger group classes, workshops and trainings I hire a studio at the Howard Venue in Hextable just down the road from Swanley.
I love sharing yoga with others. The style of yoga I practice and teach is alignment-based yoga, an embodied and practical approach to yoga, breathwork, and meditation. As well as the physical practices, I use the teachings of yoga in all areas of my life and find my life is all the richer for it, I hope you will too.
You don't need to be flexible to start, so come along and see how it feels to connect to your body, relieve tension, increase fitness, strength, and flexibility and improve posture.
I look forward to hearing from you.
